Hello! I’m Leona Liman.

I am a communications consultant and trainer with close to two decades of combined experience in education, communications (change, marketing and science), and training. My specialty is guiding organisations across various industries through complex transformations, communications crises, and brand development initiatives.

Half of my career has been spent working in the social impact industry. I am grateful for the privilege to contribute to causes that I believe in, either for work or in my personal capacity.

I either donate my time and services, or offer special rates to organisations that work closely with local communities in Malaysia on causes such as Indigenous rights, women empowerment, sustainability, and equitable access to quality education. By hiring me, you indirectly contribute to these causes as well. Past clients include Forest Stewardship Council Malaysia, WWF-Malaysia and Cancer Research Malaysia.

As a HRD Corp trainer, I empower leaders and teams to excel in change communications, crisis management, and media relations, equipping them with the skills to navigate today’s dynamic communications landscape. Armed with skills honed through leadership roles and a deep commitment to mentoring, I deliver results that resonate and inspire my target audiences.

I designed and delivered my first training programme in 2006 for Indigenous Iban communities as as a conservation educator for Wildlife Conservation Society Malaysia. Fourteen years later, I became a HRD Corp certified trainer in 2020. To adapt and survive during the COVID-19 pandemic, trainers all over the world switched to online training. This included me, who underwent EnSync Learning‘s Virtual LearnCaster certification for online training in 2021.

At the time of writing (2025), I am working towards my HRD Corp trainer accreditation while pursuing my post-grad professional Diploma in Translation from the Malaysian Translation Association and Dewan Bahasa dan Pustaka. I have been a translator since 2006, translating English to Malay and Malay to English.

My ultimate goal is to be who I needed when I was younger: someone who believes in the potential for change in others, and guides them to achieve their goals through strategic communications.
